About Us

Our Mission

Through nurturing, heart-centered activities, we at Unity of Flagstaff dedicate ourselves to spiritual growth. We seek and serve the divine light within as we honor all God’s expressions. By our actions we demonstrate abundance, peace and love in the world.

What Unity Teaches

  • We all have an innate capacity to know God through direct experience.
  • The “Christ” is that part of God that is in every person. There is a spark of divinity within all people, just as there was in Jesus.
  • Prayer works.
  • Heaven is not a place, but a state of consciousness; we create our own heaven here and now.
  • We are here to set a positive example and be a role model for others.
  • We are here to make the world a better place.

Unity Basic Principles

  • There is only one Presence and one Power active as the universe and as my life,  God the Good.
  • Our essence is of God; therefore, we are inherently good.  This God essence, called the Christ, was fully expressed in Jesus.
  • We are co-creators with God, creating reality through thoughts held in mind.
  • Through prayer and meditation, we align our heart-mind with God.  Denials and affirmations are tools we use.
  • Through thoughts, words, and actions, we live the Truth we know.

Unity of Flagstaff History

Unity of Flagstaff started in 1984, meeting at Coconino Center for the Arts.  After that they met at 4th St. in Knoles Village Square.  From 2006 to October of 2016, Unity of Flagstaff enjoyed a church home on Black Bill Road.  Recently UOF chose to move Sunday Services to 417 W. Santa Fe Ave. - closer to NAU and Downtown to celebrate the energy of Flagstaff.

History of Unity

The Unity spiritual movement began in the late 1800s based on prayer and the power of mind over body.

Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, a Kansas City, Missouri, couple with three young boys, had suffered lifelong physical ailments and constantly sought healing. They heard a lecture by a metaphysician named E.B. Weeks, and Myrtle came away with a startling new idea: “I am a child of God, and therefore I do not inherit sickness.”
